Description
Tokaji Kereskedőház Aszú 6 Puttonyos 1983 – The Golden Richness of a Sunny Vintage
This 1983 Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos, produced by Kereskedőház, is a beautiful example of Hungary’s legendary Tokaj-Hegyalja sweet wines. At the time, Kereskedőház—the state-run wine company—played a key role in preserving and promoting the classic style of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea)–affected dessert wines that made Tokaj famous worldwide.
The 1983 vintage was marked by warm, dry conditions, allowing for an exceptional harvest of highly concentrated, richly botrytized grapes. The 6 Puttonyos classification, the highest before the ultra-rare Essencia, denotes a wine of great sweetness, complexity, and aging potential.
Now fully mature, the wine presents a deep amber color with copper highlights. The nose is intense and seductive, offering layers of dried apricot, orange marmalade, honey, fig, saffron, with touches of beeswax and fine caramel. On the palate, the texture is generous and silky, yet lifted by a bright acidity that gives the wine freshness and a long, elegant finish.
This 1983 Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos is both a meditative wine and a gastronomic treasure, pairing beautifully with foie gras, blue cheese, fruit-based desserts, or enjoyed on its own, slowly and reverently.
