Sensory :
This Pinot Noir opens with captivating aromas of ripe red cherry, crushed roses, and forest floor, laced with hints of savory spice and dried herbs. On the palate, layers of red and black cherry, raspberry, moss, and baking spice unfold gracefully, complemented by subtle notes of orange peel, leather, mushroom, pepper, and a faint touch of smoke. Balanced acidity and smooth, fine-grained tannins lead to a silky, lingering finish that showcases the wine’s finesse and complexity.
Winemaker’s Background:
Stafford Hill serves as the second label of Holloran Vineyard Wines, founded and owned by Eve and Bill Holloran. Since 1999, the Hollorans have cultivated estate vineyards across the Eola-Amity Hills and Dundee Hills, producing site-driven wines rooted in sustainable farming. With winemaker Mark La Gasse at the helm since 2005, the team emphasizes minimal intervention to preserve varietal purity and the unique character of each vineyard. What began in a converted horse barn has grown into a respected winery producing over 10,000 cases annually, all while remaining deeply connected to their land, team, and community.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve at 14–16°C (57–61°F) in a Burgundy glass to showcase its aromatic precision and delicate structure. This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roasted duck breast, pork chops with brandied cherries, wild mushroom risotto, or herb-crusted salmon. For vegetarian options, try butternut squash ravioli or grilled portobello mushrooms. It also complements a range of cheeses, including Brie, Camembert, or Saint-André, making it a versatile choice for both casual meals and elegant gatherings.
The 2023 Stafford Hill Pinot Noir offers a beautifully crafted and expressive Oregon Pinot, capturing the charm, freshness, and complexity of the Willamette Valley with every sip.
