The Spätburgunder Malterdinger Alte Reben 2023 from Bernhard Huber originates from the estate’s oldest Pinot Noir parcels in Malterdingen, with vines rooted in limestone and shell-limestone soils. The low yields of these old vines provide the wine with remarkable depth and concentration. After careful hand-harvesting and selection, fermentation takes place traditionally on the skins. Maturation occurs mainly in used Burgundian barriques with a small proportion of new oak, for an aging period of around 16 months. In the glass, the wine shows a clear, medium-deep ruby red. On the nose, it reveals precise aromas of cherry, raspberry, and cranberry, supported by subtle herbal and spicy notes and a delicate smoky-mineral nuance. On the palate, it is elegant and finely structured, with polished tannins, lively acidity, and persistent minerality. The Malterdinger Alte Reben 2023 by Huber impresses with balance, finesse, and outstanding aging potential – a Pinot Noir of remarkable precision and elegance.
