Sensory :

The 2023 Ginga Nat Cool Tinto is bright, energetic, and immediately expressive, opening with lifted aromas of crushed sour cherry, red plum skin, and wild strawberry, followed by subtle notes of pomegranate, dried rose petal, and fresh herbs. On the palate, the wine is light on its feet and refreshingly juicy, driven by vibrant acidity and low alcohol, with flavors of tart red berries, blood orange zest, and a touch of red currant unfolding smoothly across the tongue. Gentle, fine-grained tannins provide just enough structure to frame the fruit, while hints of white pepper, stemmy spice, and stony minerality add savory depth. The finish is clean, thirst-quenching, and slightly crunchy, emphasizing freshness, drinkability, and a playful yet precise expression of Douro red varieties in a lighter, modern style.

Winemaker’s Background:

Pormenor Vinhos is the personal project of winemaker Pedro Coelho, whose work reflects a deliberate move away from power and extraction in favor of freshness, elegance, and identity. Working with old vine parcels grown at elevation, Pedro embraces spontaneous fermentation, minimal cellar intervention, and stainless steel aging to allow fruit and place to speak clearly. His wines challenge established expectations while remaining deeply rooted in tradition, guided by balance, restraint, and character rather than force.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve slightly chilled to enhance its freshness and fruit-driven profile. This wine shines alongside casual, shared meals, charcuterie, grilled vegetables, and lighter dishes, or simply enjoyed on its own in good company. Decanting is optional, as a natural deposit may be present due to its unfiltered nature.
