The Nero d’Avola DOC La Ferla 2021 from Canicattì is an expressive red wine that contains the essence of Sicily. This wine is deep ruby red. The bouquet unfolds aromas of ripe dark fruits such as blackberries and black cherries, complemented by spicy notes of cinnamon and black pepper. On the palate, it is rich and powerful, with soft tannins and refreshing acidity.
The finish is long and harmonious, giving the wine a remarkable elegance.
La Ferla is made from 100% Nero d’Avola, one of Sicily’s most important autochthonous grape varieties. This grape is known for its intense fruit aromas and robust character. The vineyards are located in the provinces of Agrigento, Palermo and Caltanissetta and are located at altitudes of between 200 and 600 meters above sea level. The soils are sandy-silky and calcareous, which contributes to the minerality of the wine.
La Ferla is characterized by its balanced structure and fruity intensity. The wine undergoes complete malolactic fermentation and ages in concrete tanks for eight months, followed by a three-month bottle aging. This method preserves the wine’s freshness and fruitiness while giving it a soft texture and complexity.
