Description

Mouton Cadet 1983 – Bordeaux

Mouton Cadet 1983 is a mature Bordeaux wine that reflects the classic and approachable style that made this cuvée famous under Baron Philippe de Rothschild. The 1983 vintage, warm and generous following the legendary 1982, produced supple, charming and balanced wines designed for harmonious ageing rather than extended cellaring. After more than forty years, this Mouton Cadet now offers a softened, gentle and honest expression.

The colour shows a very evolved garnet hue with pronounced brick tones at the rim, indicating advanced ageing. The nose is delicate and mellow, revealing stewed red fruits, dried plum and fig aromas, complemented by tertiary notes of leather, forest floor, blond tobacco and old wood. The overall profile is simple, harmonious and nostalgic.

On the palate, the wine is light, supple and fully resolved. The tannins are completely softened, giving a smooth and easy texture. Evolved flavours of red fruits, earthy notes and gentle spices unfold with restraint. The finish is short to medium in length, soft and balanced, leaving a calm and classic impression.

An old Mouton Cadet best enjoyed for its sense of memory and curiosity — ideal for those who appreciate simple, fully mature Bordeaux wines at their peak of evolution.
