(aged in 40% new oak, mostly Taransaud barrels): Full medium red, not as bright as the winery’s 2015s. A smoky note of reduction to the aromas of redcurrant, cherry, plum, leather and exotic flowers. Fine-grained, moderately sweet flavors display more red fruits than black, with complicating notes of cocoa powder and smoky oak and good innermouth floral energy. Finishes with suave tannins and good lift, if not quite the nuance of the ’15s from Kevin White.
