Nicolas Potel’s Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2023 is an outstanding Pinot Noir that captures the elegance and complexity of the Burgundian terroir. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, this wine shows a deep ruby red color. The bouquet is intense and complex, with aromas of ripe black cherries, blackberries and plums, complemented by subtle notes of earth, spices and fine minerality. On the palate, the wine is powerful and structured, with well-integrated tannins and lively acidity, which gives a remarkable freshness. The aftertaste is long and complex, characterized by fruity and spicy nuances.
The balance between power and elegance is typical of the Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru. The vineyards of this Grand Cru are located in the Côte de Nuits, one of Burgundy’s most renowned wine-growing regions. The soils consist mainly of limestone and clay, which contributes to the particular minerality of the wines. The climate is continental with hot summers and cold winters, ideal for ripening Pinot Noir grapes.
The aging process of this wine involves careful vinification with aging in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months. This method preserves the freshness of the fruit and gives the wine extra depth and complexity.
