Description
In the 1830’s, our Woodford County distillery was the setting for a series of discoveries and innovative practices that would define the bourbon industry for generations to come. Today that pioneering and innovative tradition is embodied in the Woodford Reserve Distillery’s Master’s Collection. A tradition that began when Master Distiller James Crow joined distillery owner Oscar Pepper to create the first true Kentucky bourbon whiskies. In 1838, Pepper commissioned a group of Irish stonemasons to build his distillery. They used a traditional Scotch-Irish pot still distillery design. After prohibition column stills replaced the pot stills. In 1996, Woodford Reserve returned the distillery to its historic roots when it brought the Irish style of triple distillation in pot stills to Kentucky for the first time. The 2018 Master’s Collection Oat Grain Kentucky Bourbon plays homage to this history by including oats in its grain recipe while minimizing the rye content. Oats are the traditional flavor grain in pot still Irish Whiskey. This four-grain recipe brings forward the barrel’s rich oak flavor contribution and an Irish whiskey’s fruitiness. We sincerely hope you enjoy the spirit of Kentucky in its most contemporary expression – innovative Oat Grain Kentucky Straight Bourbon of The Woodford Reserve Distillery’s Master’s Collection.TASTING NOTESColor: Rich Russet BrownAroma: A soft complex layer of oak character (resinous, fresh sawn, toasted, charred notes) is sweetened with a touch of caramel and brightened with a hint of cinnamon and peppermint spice atop a dash of orange zest.Flavor: Delicate grain and oak notes evolve into a ripe apple peel fruitiness backed by an orange peel crispness.
