The Pinot Blanc Leopoldine 2021 from Castel Sallegg is a characterful white wine from South Tyrol that masterfully combines elegance and minerality. The grapes come from the historic Preyhof estate in Kaltern, located at 550 m above sea level, where humus-rich calcareous gravel soils and cool downdrafts create ideal growing conditions for this variety. Manual harvesting and careful selection ensure top quality.Vinification takes place 80% in stainless steel tanks and 20% in French tonneaux, with malolactic fermentation. The wine then matures for 12 months on fine lees and an additional 6 months in the bottle, giving it depth and complexity. In the glass, Leopoldine presents itself in a brilliant straw yellow. The bouquet reveals aromas of ripe apples, apricots, citrus fruits, honey, and a hint of flint. On the palate, it is elegant and smooth, with crisp acidity, pronounced minerality, and a long, layered finish.
