The Voglia Rot 2022 from the family-run Röck winery embodies the essence of “voglia”, which means “desire” in German – this wine awakens a craving for more, inviting you to explore your senses and indulge in every sip.The vines for this unique wine thrive in the picturesque vineyards of the Dolomites, at altitudes ranging between 550 and 680 meters. The steep southeast-facing slopes and stony quartz phyllite soils give the wine its distinctive character.Made from Zweigelt (Rotburger) and Blauburgunder, the Voglia Rot also stands out due to the average vine age of 21 years. The hand harvest, carried out on September 5, 2022, marked the beginning of the process, followed by a 4-day skin maceration in stainless steel tanks, with 10% whole bunches used. The wine was then aged for 10 months on full lees, partly in large used acacia barrels and partly in used oak barrels. With a total sulfur content of approximately 40 mg/l, the wine was bottled unfiltered and unfined, reaching its full expression in August 2023.
