Our family began growing Zinfandel in 1895, when great-grandfather Edoardo Seghesio planted ten acres surrounding the family home in Sonoma County, California. Grandpa often said, Prune me poor and I’ll make you rich! This implied that, when pruning a vine, leaving less wood produces fewer but higher quality grapes.
