The Sauvignon DOC Kofl 2023 from Kurtatsch Winery is an expressive Sauvignon Blanc from Alto Adige’s steep, limestone- and dolomite-rich slopes, showcasing the great potential of this international grape variety in an alpine terroir. The name “Kofl” comes from local Alpine language and refers to a gently rounded hilltop—perfectly reflecting the high-altitude vineyards between around 450 and 600 metres, where the wine benefits from evening downslope winds that preserve freshness and shape its distinctive acidity. This Sauvignon delivers an elegant balance of varietal fruit, clear structure, and mineral tension, giving it both character and length. The Sauvignon Blanc grape appears here with a clear straw-yellow colour, highlighting the wine’s youth and freshness. The bouquet is lively and multi-layered, marked by aromatic notes of exotic fruit such as gooseberry and kiwi, accompanied by herbal hints, elderflower nuances, and fine mineral tones. On the palate, dynamic fruit meets well-integrated acidity and a noticeable salty minerality, adding texture and a long finish that underlines the distinctive South Tyrolean Sauvignon style. In the mouth, Sauvignon DOC Kofl 2023 is fresh, complex, and structured, with vibrant yet balanced acidity and a focused, precise fruit core.
