The 2020 Sammarco IGT from Castello dei Rampolla is presented in the glass with a deep, intense red color that captures the essence of its rich character. The scent is a complex blend of ripe black currants, dark cherries and plums, complemented by notes of tobacco, leather and an earthy nuance. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet elegant, with velvety tannins and refreshing acidity. The aromas reflect the scent notes and are complemented by subtle vanilla and spicy notes, resulting in a long, persistent finish.
The cuvée consists mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Sangiovese and Merlot. This combination gives the wine its textured depth and complexity. Cabernet Sauvignon brings in strong tannins and intense aromas of blackcurrant and tobacco, while Sangiovese provides fresh acidity and notes of cherries. Merlot adds a soft, fruity note that rounds off the wine.
The 2020 vintage is characterized by its finesse and elegance, with the aromas in the glass developing remarkable intensity and complexity. The climate of Tuscany with its hot summers and mild winters, together with the special vegetation of the Conca d’Oro, creates ideal conditions for viticulture and contributes to the outstanding quality of Sammarco.
