C.H. Berres, Würzgartenstrasse 41, 54539 Ürzig, DE
The Riesling Kabinett Ürziger Würzgarten 2003 from the C.H. Berres winery is really special because of its unique origin and the specific conditions under which it is produced. The vineyards in the Ürziger Würzgarten are characterized by their extremely steep locations and the red slate soil, which is rich in iron and brings a special mineral note to the wine. These soils, also known as “red lying”, store the heat of the day and release it at night, which contributes to uniform ripening of the grapes and gives the wines a particular depth and complexity.
Another remarkable aspect of the 2003 vintage is the exceptionally warm weather, which resulted in particularly ripe and aromatic grapes. This gives the wine an intense fruitiness and an impressive balance between sweetness and acidity. The combination of ripe peaches, honey and citrus fruits, accompanied by a fine mineral note, makes this wine an outstanding representative of its kind.
This Riesling from the Moselle comes in a bright golden yellow. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe peaches, honey and citrus fruits develop, accompanied by a fine mineral note. On the palate, the wine is elegant and well-balanced, with lively acidity that harmoniously complements the sweetness. The taste is dominated by notes of apricots, peaches and a touch of exotic fruit, rounded off by a long, fresh finish.
