The Rénier Cuvée IGT 2023 from Castel Sallegg is an elegant red blend of Merlot and Lagrein, combining character and drinkability. The grapes are sourced from historic vineyards near Caldaro, where humus-rich sandy clay over calcareous gravel, together with the mild climate influenced by Lake Caldaro, create a well-balanced terroir expression. After careful hand harvesting, the grapes are fermented under controlled temperature in stainless steel, undergo malolactic fermentation, and age for twelve months in a mix of steel and wooden barrels. The wine appears deep ruby in the glass, with a fresh yet layered bouquet of strawberries, blackcurrants, and blueberries. On the palate, it features firm, precise tannins, compact fruit and balanced freshness.
