The Weissburgunder DOC Kalkberg 2023 – St. Pauls Winery is an elegant, character-driven white wine made exclusively from Pinot Blanc, expressing the distinctive limestone-rich terroir of South Tyrol with remarkable clarity. In the glass, it shows a bright straw yellow colour with subtle green reflections. The bouquet reveals intense aromas of ripe yellow fruit such as apple and pear, complemented by delicate floral and subtly spicy notes and a clear mineral freshness. On the palate, this Pinot Blanc impresses with its balanced structure, lively acidity and a refined, lingering finish, where juicy fruit and saline minerality come together in perfect harmony. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Blanc, one of South Tyrol’s most important white grape varieties, renowned for its finesse, freshness and expressive character. The stylistic approach of the Kalkberg focuses clearly on origin and balance rather than opulent ripeness or over-extraction.The name “Kalkberg” refers to the limestone-rich soils of the vineyards where the vines are rooted. These soils play a decisive role in shaping the wine’s character, contributing to its pronounced mineral profile, tension on the palate and structural precision. The Weissburgunder Kalkberg 2023 is therefore an authentic expression of its origin and a benchmark example of modern South Tyrolean Pinot Blanc with depth and elegance.
