The Nero d’Avola Siccagno IGT 2023 by Arianna Occhipinti is deep ruby red that almost turns purple, and emits intensely scented notes of dark cherries and plums, interwoven with nuances of black cherry and a touch of licorice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and complex, with a rich texture of ripe red and black fruits, paired with balanced acidity and well-structured tannins, which result in a long-lasting, spicy finish.
This wine is made exclusively from the Nero d’Avola grape variety, a typical Sicilian variety known for its ability to produce intense, full-bodied wines with a strong character and long shelf life. The Nero d’Avola Siccagno is particularly remarkable for its concentrated fruitiness and deep, earthy undertones, which it draws from the lime-rich soil with sandy and loamy parts.
The vineyards are cultivated using traditional methods such as Guyot and Alberello (bush grapes), which results in a low yield and increases the quality and intensity of the grapes. This type of farming, typical of the Vittoria region in Sicily, underlines the combination of traditional craftsmanship with sustainable agriculture, which results in the biodynamic and organic certification of Occhipintis wines.
