Description

Deeply expressive and beautifully composed, the 2022 Nada Giuseppe Barbera d’Alba Superiore captures the pure essence of Piedmont’s rolling Langhe hills. Born from organically farmed Barbera vines rooted in the clay-limestone soils of Treiso’s Marcarini vineyard, this wine balances richness and freshness with remarkable finesse. Aged for a year in a mix of new and seasoned 500L tonneaux, it marries tradition and precision in every glass.

Sensory

A vibrant ruby hue introduces aromas of ripe black cherry, plum, and mulberry layered with vanilla, cocoa, and soft toasted spice. The palate is rich and full-bodied yet lifted by Barbera’s trademark acidity, offering flavors of dark fruit, licorice, and a whisper of tobacco. Silky tannins and a graceful finish leave impressions of cocoa powder and sweet wood smoke, unfolding with lingering warmth and elegance.

Winemaker’s Background

The Nada Giuseppe estate, based in Treiso, the highest commune of Barbaresco, has been family-run for generations. Since taking the helm in 2008, Enrico Nada has continued his father Giuseppe’s legacy, emphasizing organic farming and minimal intervention to highlight the character of each hillside vineyard. Together with his sister and nephew, Enrico crafts wines defined by balance, authenticity, and a deep sense of place.

Serving Suggestions

Serve slightly below room temperature (around 17°C) in a large Bordeaux glass to allow aeration and depth. This Barbera pairs beautifully with traditional Piedmontese fare, think braised beef in Barbera, pasta al ragù, or roasted lamb with herbs. Its acidity also makes it a superb companion to aged cheeses and earthy mushroom dishes. Decant for 30–45 minutes before serving to reveal its full aromatic complexity.

Elegant and powerful, the 2022 Nada Giuseppe Barbera d’Alba Superiore is a benchmark expression of the variety, unifying structure, purity, and soulful craftsmanship in a bottle that speaks fluently of its terroir and family heritage.
