The Merlot IGT Messorio 2018 from Le Macchiole is an outstanding wine that is highly recognized worldwide. This powerful and sparkling wine is deep ruby red with purple shimmer. On the nose, it is open and accessible, with charming notes of dark cherries, wild raspberries and a touch of cardamom. On the palate, it develops very good tension with juicy, crunchy fruit and fine-meshed tannin, rounded off by a finale of tobacco

notes.

This wine is made from 100% Merlot, a grape variety known for its soft tannins and fruity aromas. The 2018 vintage was particularly favourable, with optimal weather conditions, which allowed the grapes to ripen perfectly. Merlot grapes grow excellently in the calcareous soils of the Bolgheri region, which give the wine its characteristic elegance and complexity.

The peculiarity of Messorio lies in its purity and expressiveness. Le Macchiole has made a name for itself by producing single-varietal wines that perfectly express the terroir and the respective grape variety. The location of the vineyards in Bolgheri, with their mild climate and cooling sea breezes,

creates ideal conditions for viticulture.

The Messorio maturing process involves fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by a 20-month aging in 75% new French barriques. This method accentuates the fruitiness and complexity of the wine without masking the natural aromas. Messorio 2018 has more than earned its place in the wine cellar.
