The Merlot Riserva DOC Siebeneich Praun 2022 by Bozen Winery is a powerful yet elegant South Tyrolean red wine with a strong sense of origin. The Siebeneich area near Bolzano is one of the warmer zones of the region and offers ideal conditions for Merlot, thanks to its porphyry and sandy soils. These conditions produce wines with ripe fruit, dense structure and impressive depth.The designation “Riserva” in Alto Adige DOC wines indicates an extended ageing period beyond the legal minimum requirements. For this Merlot, it means longer maturation in oak and bottle, allowing the tannins to harmonise and the aromas to gain complexity. The result is a structured, age-worthy wine that balances power and elegance.In the glass, the 2022 vintage displays a deep ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The bouquet reveals aromas of ripe plum, dark berries and fine spice, complemented by subtle toasted notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied, concentrated and well balanced, with integrated tannins and a long, elegant finish. A characterful Merlot Riserva that authentically reflects Alto Adige.
