The Merlot IGP Aquilae 2021 from Canicattì is an inviting red wine from Sicily. It shows a deep ruby red color. On the nose, aromas of cherries and strawberries develop, accompanied by spicy notes and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, the wine is harmonious and smooth, with well-balanced and refreshing tannins and

a pleasant, long finish.

This wine is made from 100% Merlot, a grape known for its fruity and spicy aromas. In Sicily, it develops a particular intensity and complexity. The vineyards are located in the provinces of Agrigento, Palermo and Caltanissetta at altitudes of 200 to 600 meters. The soil is sandy-silky and rich in limestone, which gives the wines a special minerality. The Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters promotes optimal ripening of the grapes.

Merlot IGP Aquilae BIO is an organic wine, which means that no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers are used. This protects both the environment and the natural properties of the grapes. The wine is fermented at a controlled temperature in steel and cement tanks, undergoes complete malolactic fermentation and then matures for a short time in small French oak barrels before being further refined in the bottle for

three months.
