The MCMLVII Merlot DOC Vecchie Viti BIO – 2020 by Alois Lageder is an exceptional organic red wine that perfectly captures the essence of the old vines and the rich tradition of the winery. This wine is made from 100% Merlot, a grape variety known for its deep, velvety aromas and its ability to impressively reflect the terroir

.

The color of the wine is deep cherry red with ruby reflections. The scent unfolds an intense and complex bouquet of red berries such as raspberries and blackberries, complemented by earthy and fine spicy notes. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and well-balanced, with a complex structure and a harmonious fruit-acid balance, which gives it freshness and liveliness

.

The peculiarity of this wine lies in the old vines that were planted in the middle of the 20th century. These vines, which are up to 140 years old, give the wine a particular depth and complexity. The “mass selection” method was used to preserve and pass on the best qualities of these old vines, resulting in exceptional wine quality. The name “MCMLVII” (1957 in Roman numerals) refers to the year in which the first Merlot vines were planted in this particular plot. This exquisite Merlot from Alois Lageder has definitely earned its place in the wine cellar
