Bozen Winery, Moritzinger Strasse 36, 39100 Bolzano (BZ), IT

The Cuvée Cabernet Merlot DOC Mauritius 2022 from Bozen Winery is deep garnet red. The bouquet features concentrated fruit aromas of ripe berries, accompanied by fine spicy notes and a touch of cocoa. On the palate, the wine is dense and complex, with elegant tannins and a long, persistent finish. This elegant wine is perfect with hearty dishes, grilled dark meat, game, wild fowl and spicy hard cheese.

The grape varieties used are Lagrein and Merlot. Lagrein, one of South Tyrol’s most typical red wine varieties, thrives in the warm, fertile alluvial soils around Bolzano. This grape variety is known for its intensely colored, complex wines with characteristic acidity and aromas of cherries, blackberries, violets and cocoa. Merlot brings fruitiness and spice to the cuvée, complemented by vegetal notes and an elegant body.

What is special about this wine is the balance between fruit, structure, tannins and elegance, which is achieved by aging in French barriques and large wooden barrels. The growing zone around San Maurizio and Gries near Bolzano, at an altitude of around 250 meters, offers ideal conditions for these grape varieties with its warm, alluvial soils.
