Sensory :

This red blend is intense and complex, with a deep ruby color. The nose reveals enticing aromas of ripe black fruits, such as blackberry and plum, interwoven with subtle hints of spice, tea leaf, and earthy undertones. On the palate, it is bold yet balanced, with velvety tannins providing structure and depth. The finish lingers with notes of black fruit, spices, and a touch of oak-derived vanilla, owing to its 15-month aging in French Allier oak.

Winemaker’s Background:

The Marqués de Griñón estate, overseen by Carlos Falcó, has been a benchmark of Spanish winemaking since 1974. The vineyards rest on family land, owned since 1292, and were among the first to introduce modern viticulture techniques to Spain. Falcó’s collaboration with renowned experts such as Michel Rolland and Richard Smart brought global recognition to the estate. In 2002, Dominio de Valdepusa was recognized as Spain’s first Vino de Pago, a designation given to estates that consistently produce exceptional wines with unique characteristics tied to their specific terroir.

Serving Suggestions:

This robust red blend pairs beautifully with grilled meats, game, and hearty stews. For optimal enjoyment, serve at 60–65°F. Its depth and complexity also make it a wonderful match for aged cheeses and charcuterie, enhancing both the wine’s fruit and savory elements.

This wine is ideal for cellaring and can develop further complexity over the next 5–10 years, making it a perfect choice for special occasions or as a centerpiece for an elegant dinner.
