Lagrein Riserva DOC 2022 – Thurnhof is a powerful, structured red wine from Alto Adige (South Tyrol), beautifully reflecting the distinctive character of the indigenous Lagrein grape. For this Riserva, only fully ripe grapes from old vines are selected, and after maceration the wine is aged for 12 to 18 months in both small and large oak barrels. This extended maturation adds depth, concentration and impressive complexity, with well-integrated oak notes and a layered aromatic profile. Its firm structure and refined tannins also give it excellent ageing potential over the coming years.In the glass, Lagrein shows a deep ruby-red colour with purple highlights, signalling richness and intensity. The nose is expressive and intense, offering aromas of dark berries such as blackberry and raspberry, supported by floral violet notes and elegant spicy tones reminiscent of chocolate, tobacco and subtle balsamic hints. The overall impression is rich, polished and characterful.On the palate, Lagrein Riserva 2022 is powerful yet well balanced, with dense, soft tannins and lively acidity that brings freshness and tension. The fruit remains at the core, while oak and spice nuances shape a long, persistent finish.
