Sensory :

Medium ruby in the glass, this wine opens with a lifted aromatic profile of coastal red berries, wild strawberry, and cranberry accented by subtle herbal tones and a whisper of sea breeze salinity. The palate is vibrant yet poised, balancing juicy red fruit with fine-grained tannins and refreshing acidity. Texturally, it is supple and precise, shaped by whole-cluster fermentation and neutral oak that preserve purity and freshness. The finish lingers with a mineral edge, evoking the sandstone soils and ocean proximity of its vineyard origin.

Winemaker’s Background:

Lady of the Sunshine was founded in 2017 by second-generation biodynamic farmer and winemaker Gina Giugni as an exploration of farming with intention, natural winemaking, and deep respect for the land. In 2024, Gina and her husband, Mikey, purchased the historic 29-acre Bassi Vineyard, now the project’s home and centerpiece, located just one mile from the Pacific in the SLO Coast AVA. The vineyard was certified biodynamic that same year, cementing the couple’s commitment to stewardship and regenerative farming. Every bottle reflects Gina’s philosophy of care, authenticity, and artistry, from hand-stitched label designs to lightweight recyclable glass and transparency in ingredients. Lady of the Sunshine wines are crafted as pure, textured expressions of their sites, a true love letter to California’s Central Coast.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 55–58°F in a Burgundy glass to showcase its aromatic nuance and refined texture. This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with dishes such as herb-roasted chicken, seared salmon, wild mushroom risotto, or simple charcuterie. Its bright acidity and mineral structure also make it versatile enough for lighter fare or seasonal vegetarian dishes.

2024 Lady of the Sunshine ‘Bassi Vineyard’ Pinot Noir is more than a debut, it is a heartfelt expression of place, philosophy, and care. Vibrant, soulful, and ocean-kissed, it stands as a testament to biodynamic farming and intentional winemaking, inviting you to share in Gina Giugni’s journey and vision.
