Description

La Venenosa Tabernas Raicilla Reposado, Jalisco, Mexico,  defies expectations with its vibrant, handcrafted complexity drawn from centuries of artisanal tradition. Distilled by esteemed taberneros in small-scale tabernas throughout Jalisco, this limited-release spirit showcases the lesser-known but deeply rooted world of Raicilla, a bold agave distillate that predates tequila. Crafted from rare Chico Aguillar (Agave angustifolia) and Lechuguilla (Agave maximiliana), each batch is a tribute to its unique origin and the tabernero’s touch, culminating in a Raicilla that is every bit as expressive as the land it hails from.

Sensory :

This Raicilla opens with aromatic layers of orange peel, fresh oregano, and crisp green apple. On the palate, it unfolds with resinous spice, warming cinnamon, and a delicate note of lemongrass. The finish is clean and persistent, with a fine mineral tension and herbal clarity that reflect the wild agave and meticulous hands that shaped it. The combination of traditional techniques and high-altitude terroir imparts both power and finesse to this expressive spirit.

Distiller’s Background:

La Venenosa was founded by Chef Esteban Morales, whose deep passion for agave spirits led him to explore the remote tabernas of Jalisco in search of Raicilla’s finest expressions. Morales has worked directly with local maestro taberneros to curate a line that encapsulates the rich diversity of Raicilla production, highlighting differences in agave, altitude, soil, and distillation practice. His efforts have brought well-deserved international recognition to these traditional Mexican spirits and the people who produce them.

Serving Suggestions:

Enjoy neat in a copita glass at cellar temperature (60–65°F) to appreciate the full spectrum of aromatics and texture. This Raicilla also performs beautifully in cocktails, try it in a spirit-forward variation of a Margarita or Oaxaca Old Fashioned for added dimension.
