Sensory :

Brilliant light gold in appearance, the wine greets the nose with succulent aromas of ripe apricot, quince, honey, and beeswax. On the palate, it is rich and velvety, delivering layers of baked apple, spiced pear, and golden honeycomb, wrapped in a soft and lingering off-dry finish. The balance between opulence and freshness is seamless, elevating both casual and refined occasions.

Winemaker’s Background:

The Joseph Cattin estate has been rooted in the heart of Alsace since 1720. Now managed by the 11th generation, Jacques Sr., Jacques Jr., and Jean-Marie, the family oversees more than 60 hectares of vines. Planted along the foothills of the Vosges Mountains at elevations ranging from 200 to 400 meters, their vineyards benefit from southeast exposure and ideal ripening conditions. The “Sauvage” range reflects their forward-thinking philosophy, embracing organic and vegan practices while honoring regional tradition.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve chilled at 8–10°C in a white wine glass to showcase its delicate aromatics. This Pinot Gris makes a delightful aperitif and pairs beautifully with Alsatian classics like Baeckeoffe, as well as lacquered pork, roast duck, prawns, foie gras, or game meats. Its touch of sweetness and complex profile also make it a perfect partner for spiced Asian cuisine and semi-soft cheeses.

With its generous personality and thoughtful craftsmanship, the 2023 Joseph Cattin Pinot Gris ‘Cattin Sauvage’ is a compelling expression of Alsace, bold in spirit, rooted in nature, and destined to impress.
