Sensory :
Bright ruby red in color, this Nebbiolo opens with refined aromas of red fruit and delicate violet. The palate is dry and well balanced, showing fresh cherry and subtle herbal tones framed by medium body and finely grained tannins. Acidity remains lively and integrated, giving the wine clarity and lift rather than weight. Compared to more muscular expressions of Nebbiolo, this bottling favors immediacy and finesse, offering a transparent, food-driven style that highlights varietal character without heaviness. The 2023 vintage reinforces this balance, delivering freshness, definition, and approachability.
Winemaker’s Background:
The Ioppa family’s history in viticulture stretches back centuries, with documented vineyard ownership dating to 1852. Over seven generations, the family has played a pivotal role in elevating quality standards in Northern Piedmont, including their involvement in the recognition and advancement of Ghemme as a DOC and later DOCG. Today, the estate spans more than 20 hectares, guided by brothers Gianpiero and Giorgio Ioppa alongside the seventh generation, continuing a legacy rooted in tradition, education, and steady refinement.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve at 61 to 64 °C in a large-bowled red wine glass to allow aromatics and structure to fully unfold. This Nebbiolo pairs naturally with savory pasta and rice dishes, poultry, succulent meat-based preparations, and medium-aged cheeses, where its acidity and tannins provide balance and lift.
