The 2022 Gentil Hugel is a blend of 33% Gewurztraminer, 30% Sylvaner, 17% Pinot Blanc, 7% Riesling, 7% Pinot Gris and 6% Muscat. It opens with a gently floral note and a pale plum juiciness. The palate is light but fruit-driven, with admirable freshness – there is acidification, Hugel says – which makes the residual sweetness of just 3.7 g/L a flavor enhancer rather than a sweetener. A touch of heat is countered elegantly by a mouthwatering phenolic finish. (Dry)
