Description

Chapoutier Hermitage 1982

Chapoutier’s 1982 Hermitage is a great Rhône Valley wine that has reached full maturity, produced in a warm and generous vintage. The 1982 growing season delivered powerful, rich and structured wines on the Hermitage hill, with excellent ageing potential. After more than forty years, this wine now reveals the full nobility and depth of Syrah from one of the Rhône’s most prestigious terroirs.

The colour shows a deep garnet hue with brick tones at the rim, reflecting slow and controlled ageing. The nose is complex and distinguished, offering stewed dark fruits, plum and blackberry aromas, complemented by tertiary notes of leather, tobacco, forest floor, smoked meat and spices. A peppery and lightly smoky nuance highlights the Hermitage Syrah character.

On the palate, the wine is broad, resolved and harmonious. The tannins are fully softened, creating a velvety and deep texture. Flavours of ripe fruit, liquorice, spices, noble animal notes and warm earth unfold with intensity and balance. The finish is long, warm and persistent, leaving an impression of controlled power and great elegance.

A profound and emotive mature Hermitage — ideal for lovers of evolved Syrah seeking complexity, structure and the majestic imprint of time.
