This exquisite Merlot opens with aromas of floral rose hip, tangy blood orange and rhubarb with a hint of blackberry, red pepper, and bay leaf. On the palate, a lovely soft entry with plenty of juicy, ripe red fruit is supported by complex, savory undertones. The balanced acid structure and young chalky tannins bring a pleasant freshness, leading to a focused, balanced finish.

This wine is concentrated and moderately complex, with earthy notes of coffee bean, dill and black pepper. The fruit is a contrasting mix of black currant and black cherry, with refined tannins and integrated oak that leaves a trace of baking spice.

A solid effort, the 2018 Merlot has attractive earthy black cherry fruit as well as subtle cedary spice, leather, and dried herb aromas and flavors. With a slightly Bordeaux-like style, it’s medium-bodied, nicely balanced, has a soft, easy style, and is ideal for drinking over the coming 3-5 years.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Merlot hits the ground running with open-knit scents of baked black cherries, stewed plums and boysenberries plus an undercurrent of wild sage, cloves and tar. Medium-bodied, the palate offers a good amount of black fruit with loads of herbal accents and a chewy texture, finishing with a lively lift.
