The Gavi DOCG Rovereto di Gavi 2024 from the Michele Chiarlo estate is an elegant white wine from the heart of Piedmont’s classic Gavi area. It is produced from 100% Cortese, an indigenous grape variety that has been closely linked to this region for centuries and is valued for its vibrant acidity, clear fruit expression and refined minerality. The name Rovereto refers to one of the historic Cru sites within the Gavi DOCG, where distinctive conditions—dark, iron-rich clay soils and a south-eastern exposure—give the wine added depth and elegance. Careful hand selection and naturally low yields further enhance grape quality before the fruit is gently and precisely vinified. In the glass, Rovereto di Gavi shows a bright straw-yellow colour with green highlights. On the nose, it offers an intense yet elegant bouquet with notes of white flowers, Golden apple, grapefruit and herbal nuances such as chives, supported by subtle mineral tones that underline the wine’s Cru origin. On the palate, it is well structured while remaining driven by freshness: lively acidity brings energy, while delicate fruit and clean minerality create harmony and a pleasantly persistent finish. Michele Chiarlo’s winemaking approach combines cool fermentation temperatures with several months of fine lees ageing in stainless steel, preserving Cortese’s signature freshness and aromatic clarity without sacrificing structure and complexity.
