Sensory :

This Barbaresco reveals a radiant, pale ruby hue and an aromatic profile that evolves beautifully in the glass. Crushed red berries, dried rose petals, orange peel, mint, and chalk form a layered bouquet that’s both energetic and refined. On the palate, the wine is sleek and sinewy, driven by sizzling acidity and firm tannins that promise exceptional aging potential. While the 2019 vintage carries a touch more restraint than usual, the mid-palate sweetness adds a seductive curve to its focused structure. With time or decanting, it blossoms with nuance and grace.

Winemaker’s Background:

The Cigliuti family’s roots in Neive stretch back to the 18th century, but it was Renato Cigliuti who bottled their first wines in 1964, marking the beginning of the modern era for this estate. Today, his daughters Claudia and Silvia helm the winery with a philosophy deeply rooted in tradition, sustainability, and precision. Their vines on the famed Serraboella hill are cultivated by hand with meticulous care, producing low-yield, high-quality fruit that fully expresses the terroir’s mineral-rich soils and distinct elevation. The wines, like the family behind them, balance authenticity and innovation with remarkable consistency.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F) and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young. This Barbaresco is a perfect pairing for veal or pork roasts, lamb chops, eggplant parmesan, aged Pecorino, or mushroom risotto. It also complements hard cheeses and cured meats elegantly.

The 2019 Cigliuti Serraboella, Barbaresco DOCG, Italy is a masterful expression of Barbaresco—structured, graceful, and brimming with the personality of its place and people. Cellar-worthy yet charming in its youth, it stands as a proud emblem of the Serraboella hillside and the women who bring it to life.
