Description

Château Grand Corbin-Despagne 1967 – The Elegance of a Mature and Authentic Saint-Émilion

Château Grand Corbin-Despagne, a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion, is a historic, family-owned estate located on sandy and clay-sand soils in the northwestern part of the appellation, near the border with Pomerol. Owned by the Despagne family for over two centuries, the château is known for its refined style, precise blending, and excellent aging potential.

The 1967 vintage, though often overshadowed by Bordeaux’s more celebrated years, allowed — in the best terroirs — the creation of wines with charm, balance, and delicacy, particularly on the Right Bank.

Today, Château Grand Corbin-Despagne 1967 presents a beautifully evolved brick-tinted robe with orange highlights, reflecting full maturity. The nose is elegant and complex, offering tertiary aromas of fine leather, blond tobacco, dried fruits, forest floor, prune, and a hint of sweet spice. On the palate, the wine is supple and graceful, with softened tannins, integrated acidity, and an elegant, lingering finish touched by balsamic and aged wood notes.

This is a wine of memory and finesse, to be enjoyed slowly — either on its own or paired with subtle dishes like roast poultry, mushroom risotto, or aged soft cheeses. A rare bottle that embodies the timeless grace and classicism of old Saint-Émilion.
