Carano Lagrein Riserva Vigna Arzenhof 2021 by Baron di Pauli is a distinctive top-quality red wine from Alto Adige and a powerful expression of the region’s indigenous grape Lagrein. The wine is made exclusively from grapes grown in the single vineyard Vigna Arzenhof, a historic site located above the western shore of Lake Caldaro. The vines are planted at 300 to 400 metres above sea level, on soils of calcareous gravel, porphyry and quartz-rich sand, supported by a particularly favourable microclimate. This combination gives the wine its depth, structure and refined character.In the glass, it shows an intense ruby-red colour. The bouquet is layered and concentrated, marked by ripe dark fruit and subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet well balanced, with generous fruit, a precise structure and firm but beautifully integrated tannins leading to a long, harmonious finish.As a Riserva, this Lagrein represents strict grape selection in the vineyard and extended ageing, resulting in greater complexity and excellent ageing potential. The maturation enhances both depth and finesse, making it an ideal partner for rich dishes such as braised beef, game or aged cheeses. A wine of origin, character and outstanding potential to evolve over time.
