Antichi Poderi Jerzu, Via Umberto 1, 08044 Jerzu (NU), IT
The Cannonau di Sardegna DOC Marghia 2020 from Antichi Poderi Jerzu is an impressive red wine from Sardinia. It is made from 100% Cannonau grapes, which are also known locally as Grenache. This grape is particularly appreciated for its strong fruit aromas and soft tannins. The vines are around 25 years old and grow in the Marghia region, which is known for its excellent conditions for viticulture
.
The wine has a deep ruby red color. The scent unfolds intense aromas of dark berries, dried herbs, cedarwood and pepper spice. On the palate, Marghia is rich and full-bodied, with smooth tannins and a long, spicy finish. This combination of fruit and spice makes the wine particularly harmonious and complex
.
The vineyards are located at altitudes of 150 to 180 meters above sea level and benefit from the Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters. The soils consist mainly of limestone and clay, which gives the wine a distinctive minerality. The grapes are harvested by hand and stored on the skins at a controlled temperature for 10 days after pressing. This is followed by malolactic fermentation and aging for ten months in 3000 liter oak barrels, followed by a further three months in stainless steel tanks and three months
in bottle.
