Cala Cala TW from Calabretta is a fascinating red wine made from the Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grape varieties, which are mainly grown on the volcanic soils of Etna in Sicily. This region is known for its mineral and complex wines, which are characterized by special soil and climate conditions
.
The Cala Cala TW is presented in a bright ruby red glass. The bouquet is seductive and complex, with aromas of ripe cherries, strawberries, exotic spices and a touch of camphor. On the palate, the wine is soft yet lively, with fresh mineral notes and a touch of wild herbs. The rose notes and the tart wild berry aromas come into their own on the finish, accompanied by subtle round tannins
that create a harmonious structure.
The peculiarity of this wine lies in the traditional production and use of grapes from different vintages and plots, which gives it exceptional depth and complexity. The vines are between 70 and 80 years old and are farmed organically. The wine ages partly in large oak barrels and partly in stainless steel tanks, which gives it a unique combination of freshness and maturity. The name “Cala Cala” means “Gulp, Gulp” in Italian, which underlines the drinking pleasure of this wine.
