The Cabernet Sauvignon “Wellenburg” 2020 from the Baron Longo Winery is an exceptional red wine that perfectly embodies the elegance and complexity of this international variety. The name “Wellenburg” refers to the historic heritage of the Longo-Liebenstein family, dating back to the 18th century. This single-varietal Cabernet Sauvignon is cultivated using biodynamic farming on calcareous soils with a porphyry subsoil at 270 meters above sea level, offering ideal conditions for the maturation of the grapes. In the glass, the wine presents a deep, garnet-red color. The bouquet is intense and complex, with aromas of black currants, blackberries, and a hint of bell pepper, typical of the variety. On the palate, the wine reveals a full-bodied structure with silky tannins and a fine minerality, providing depth and elegance. The aging process takes place in Tonneaux, followed by a 20-month maturation in 225-litre French oak barriques, enhancing the fruitiness and complexity of the wine. The 2020 vintage was awarded 93 points by Falstaff.
