The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG “Lupi e Sirene” 2019 from Podere le Ripi is an absolutely outstanding wine that embodies the true excellence of the Montalcino terroir. This Riserva wine, which was awarded a proud 98 points by Falstaff, is the winery’s absolute top product and is characterized by its remarkable depth and complexity

.

Made from 100% Sangiovese grapes grown on the region’s limestone and clay soils, this wine benefits from the Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters, which creates ideal conditions for the grapes to ripen. The wine has a bright, dark ruby red. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe red fruits develop, followed by unexpected minerality and notes of gardenia, fern, anise and licorice. On the palate, Brunello is strong and rich, with a noble, large structure, velvety tannins and a long-lasting,

elegant finish.

The term “Riserva” stands for a particularly high-quality and long-aged wine. After spontaneous fermentation in oak barrels, the Lupi e Sirene matures for around 25 days, 48 months in large oak barrels, followed by 12 months in cement tanks and a further 12 months in bottle. This long aging gives the wine its exceptional structure and complexity. The limestone and clay-rich soils and the Mediterranean climate, which allow the grapes to ripen optimally and contribute to the particular minerality and structure of the wine, are typical of this wine and the Montalcino wine-growing zone. The use of indigenous yeasts and minimal addition of sulfur underlines the purity and authenticity of the wine. This Riserva wine has more than earned its place in the wine cellar!
