The Amarone di Valpolicella DOCG Vigna Garzon 2019 by Pieropan impresses with its deep ruby red color. On the nose, it develops an intense bouquet of black cherries, blackberries and plums, accompanied by subtle notes of spices and dried herbs. On the palate, it is powerful and complex, with a balanced structure and a long, fresh finish.
This wine is made from 60% Corvina Veronese, 30% Corvinone and 5% Rondinella and Croatina Veronese. These autochthonous grape varieties are typical of the region and give Amarone its characteristic depth and richness. In the hilly areas of Monte Garzon, the grapes grow on calcareous clay soils at an altitude of 350 to 500 meters, which contributes to the complexity and minerality of the wine.
A special feature of this Amarone is the natural drying process of the grapes, known as “appassimento”, which concentrates the sugar and aroma content and gives the wine its unmistakable intensity. The 2019 vintage was characterized by a mild winter, followed by a hot summer and an ideal autumn, which resulted in excellent grape qualities.
