AG 96 “The 1985 La Conseillante is a wine that I have drunk on many occasions, but this might be the finest example, partly due to impeccable provenance. It has a striking nose that unfolds pure strawberry, raspberry and hints of shaved truffle with wonderful delineation. There may be just a scintilla of Brettanomyces but this only adds to its complexity. Fine-boned tannins frame a cohesive, poised palate. Not a powerful Pomerol (it never was) but sensual and refined, this glides across the senses with a peacock’s tail on the finish. At almost 40 years of age, this is Pomerol cruising at great height.
