Donnafugata, Via Sebastiano Lipari 18, 91025-Marsala, IT
The Lighea DOC 2024 from Donnafugata is an exceptional aromatic white wine that captures the essence of the Mediterranean region. Made from 100% zibibbo (also known as Moscato di Alessandria), this wine is bright straw yellow with greenish reflections. The bouquet is rich and fragrant, characterized by classic notes of orange blossom combined with citrus accents such as cedrate and bergamot as well as exotic fruits. The palate reflects fruity and floral notes, accompanied by remarkable freshness and a pleasant mineral finish.
Zibibbo, the main grape variety of this wine, is known for its aromatic intensity and freshness. The vines thrive on the volcanic island of Pantelleria, where they are cultivated in traditional Alberello bush vines. This unique farming method, recognized as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO, protects the vines from strong winds and preserves their valuable aromas.
A particular feature of Lighea 2024 is its sustainable approach. The bottle, called “Cento per Cento Sicilia,” is made entirely from recycled glass, and the cap, Nomacorc Ocean, is made from recycled plastic collected from coasts. This shows Donnafugata’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
